Angela Thomas is an associate attorney who serves the law firm’s diverse base of nonprofit clients with wide-ranging legal issues. She assists clients with numerous legal matters, including corporate formation and compliance, federal tax considerations, state-specific registration and employment requirements, corporate structuring and other legal issues.
Angela’s background includes legal practice in private firms specializing in transactional work, litigation, and bankruptcy. In addition, she gained experience in corporate work while employed at Fluor Corporation, a global engineering and construction company. In this capacity, Angie wrote and edited corporate safety manuals and policies and assisted with the legal analysis of the corporation’s drug testing policy implementation on a nationwide basis.
Angela’s varied private practice and corporate experience enables her to approach service to nonprofits with wisdom and practical insights. She is passionate about providing legal support and guidance that affords our nonprofit clients the ability to focus on their objectives, with legal compliance assurance and peace of mind regarding potential legal hindrances.
Prior to joining Wagenmaker & Oberly, Angela was employed by the Charleston County School District as an academic interventionalist with at-risk students. Most recently, she worked at a local public charter school during its inaugural year and assisted with a myriad of issues arising in a start-up academic environment. Angela enjoys reading, cooking, photography and spending time outside watching sporting events in Charleston, South Carolina, where she lives with her husband and three children.
