Emily Burger

Associate

Emily Burger is an associate attorney who serves nonprofit clients through our firm’s dispute resolution, risk management, and employment practice groups.

Prior to joining Wagenmaker & Oberly, Emily practiced law for a Chicago-based global firm, where she focused on commercial litigation and government investigations. Emily also clerked for the Hon. Steven C. Seeger of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Emily has experience representing a wide spectrum of clients including large corporations, nonprofits, and individuals, in state court, federal litigation, and investigations. Her professional background positions her well to capably address client needs and interests, in navigating the innumerable challenges that can arise for both nonprofit legal compliance and disputes.

Emily received her J.D. from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. While in law school, she served in several capacities, as articles editor for the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, a civil procedure teaching assistant, and an advocate with the Center on Wrongful Convictions of Youth. Before law school, Emily worked as a paralegal with Wagenmaker & Oberly. She earned her B.A., summa cum laude, in Political Science and History from North Park University.
