Jonathan Atkinson

Associate

Jonathan Atkinson is an associate attorney who serves Wagenmaker & Oberly's nonprofit clients in a wide range of corporate and real estate matters, including contracts, leases, nonprofit structuring, facility usage, property tax exemption, and legal compliance issues.

Before joining Wagenmaker & Oberly, Jonathan worked as a real estate finance associate at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP in Charlotte, North Carolina. In that role, he represented lending institutions in the origination of mortgage loans secured by commercial properties, including multi-state and multi-property transactions. He also participated in the origination of mezzanine loans and in structuring subscription credit facilities for private equity funds.

Jonathan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he served as a Senior Editor of the Alabama Law Review and as a member of the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board. He was also a Blackstone Fellow with Alliance Defending Freedom and was inducted to the Order of the Coif. Prior to law school, he studied as a National Merit Scholar at Columbia International University, where he graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in the Humanities and Biblical Studies.

In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys hunting, fishing, traveling, and reading history.
